We have a long term solution to your painful corns or callus, Curacorn®, an innovative podiatry treatment using hyaluronic acid gel to protect areas of high pressure in the foot.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance in the body that plays a crucial role in maintaining skin hydration and volume. By placing a small amount of this gel directly under your corn/callus, water is attracted into the site to form a stable cushion, relieving your pain.
This treatment was first trialled in professional footballers to keep them on the pitch and noting their corns had not returned for up to 18 months post Curacorn.

how we carry out this procedure

After administering a small amount of local anaesthesia we deposit the gel through a blunt cannula directly under your problematic area.
The procedure is generally painless and we ask you not to walk on the area after for 24 hours as the gel needs time to settle and stabilise. You cannot drive home due to the use of local anaesthesia.
The procedure usually takes between 30-45 minutes. Bring a friend, a book or chat with us.

Frequently asked questions
- Is it safe? Hyaluronic acid is naturally produced in our bodies therefore it is safe to use and will not cause a reaction and not documented as a contra indication
- I am Diabetic, am I a suitable candidate? Most patients with diabetes can have this treatment. Your podiatrist will check your suitability by assessing your pulses in the foot. The procedure does not create a wound and only an injection site so there is no healing necessary post procedure
- I am on blood thinners can I still have Curacorn? Yes you can, the procedure only uses one puncture site for both the local anaesthsia and the use of the cannula to deposit the gel therefore there is minimal bleeding associated
- Are there any side effects? Some swelling or mild brusing may occur post procedure but this will settle within 24 hours. We do ask you to keep your foot up and offload the area for this 24 hours to allow the gel to absorb water and stay in the area we have deposited it into
- How many treatments will I need for my corn? Most people will need 2 or 3 sessions spaced one month apart. This will be explained to you by your podiatrist at your initial assessment and will depend on the depth and location of your corn or callus
- Is the procedure painful? Generally no it is not painful. We use a very small needle to inject the local anaesthesia and after that you will feel nothing painful, just pressure.
