Heel pain – what a pain!

Do you hobble to the bathroom in the morning?

After sitting for a period of time is your heel so painful that you limp to get yourself a coffee?

It is highly likely you have Plantar Fasciitis and we have a great solution to reduce your pain and get you back on the road to recovery long term. Botox - a neurotoxin. PODTox

The science bit

Neurotoxins block the transmission of chemical messages from the nerve to the muscle so it stays in a resting state for around 3 to 6 months. It does not however reduce the function of the foot.

Allowing the muscles to relax lowers mechanical stress at the fascia origin, minimising irritation and microtrauma that contribute to inflammation. Additionally, Botox inhibits its neurotransmitters like acetylcholine and substance P, which reduces pain signalling and local irritation, indirectly creating a more favourable environment for fascia recovery.

procedure

The procedure is straight forwad and will be carried out in our usual treatment rooms .

A local anaesthetic is administered into the heel, from the side, before depositing the botox via a small tube into the vicinity of your pain.

After the procedure we ask you to rest and avoid any heat on the area for up to 24 hours. Impact sports should be avoided for 48 hours post procedure.
